Off-leash Dog Parks/Runs

Toad Hollow Dog Park, circa 2006

Davis offers the following off-leash areas where your dog can be off leash if it remains under your control. These areas are marked by signs and, unless otherwise noted, are unfenced. The City of Davis defines dog runs as areas within existing city parks that are less than half-an-acre.

Park Etiquette

Max thinks sitting on the ground is for the dogs!

As shared recreational space, off-leash areas require that we all maintain responsibility for our children and pets. Please keep in mind some of the following rules and suggestions for our shared enjoyment of public open space. Courtesy and a gentle nature can go a long way toward public perception of dogs as a benefit to society.

By law, you are liable for any injury caused by a dog under your supervision. Users of the park assume the risk of injury/damage to themselves and their dog.

Rules

  • No children under age 12 unless supervised by an adult.
  • No puppies less than 4 months old or female dogs in heat.
  • No more than 3 dogs per person.
  • Dogs must be licensed and fully vaccinated.
  • Supervise and maintain voice control over your dog.
  • Carry leash at all times for each dog.
  • Clean up after your dog.
  • Remove aggressive dogs immediately.

Courtesy

  • Clean up after your dog. If you can't find it, pick up one that's not yours.
  • Get beyond the inner gate before unleashing your dog.
  • Check on your dog every few minutes & know what s/he's doing.
  • Leave special treats and toys at home. Some people/dogs can get a little possessive.
  • Keep a large distance between your dog and aggressive animals. If necessary, leave before the situation escalates.
  • Pick up a karma-poo. You will be rewarded next time one of yours goes unnoticed.
