September 15, 2008: Yolo County Creek Clean-Up Day
- The Yolo County Creek Clean-Up Day event will be held September 15 from 9am-noon. The effort is part of the California Coastal Cleanup day which, includes inland waterways, is meant to focus attention on the marine environment. Each year, more than 40,000 volunteers turn out to police over 400 cleanup sites statewide. This year events in Yolo County will be held along Putah Creek, near the Cache Creek Conservancy Nature Preserve, in West Sacramento at the Port and in Clarksburg at the boat launch. Last year over 240 people from Yolo County participated.
October 5, 2008: Bark 'n' Splash
- Davis is going to the dogs! Bring your canine companions for an afternoon of fun where dogs will be allowed to swim and play in the Community Park pool. Bark ‘n Splash steps off with a scenic walk at 11:30am and finishes off with a cool off in the pool and other “tail-waggin” events until 2pm. This family oriented afternoon features contests, entertainment, food and drink, demonstrations, dog-related vendors and services, and kids activities for the whole family to participate in. Pre-registration begins September 2 at the Community Services Department, and on-site registration begins at 11:15am the day of the event. The cost is $8 per dog, and human companions are free!
